The 1975 Brigades

In 1975 due to Local Government reorganisation the eleven Scottish Brigades were amalgamated into eight.

Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service
Dumfries and Galloway Fire and Rescue Service Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service
Fife Fire and Rescue Service Strathclyde Fire & Rescue
Grampian Fire and Rescue Service Tayside Fire and Rescue

The 1975 Re-Organisation                                                                                  General

The Holroyd Report published Friday, 12th June, 1970 proposed that Scotland should have seven brigades instead of the present eleven. This didn't happen and as a result an 8th Brigade, Fife, was formed.
