ELECTRIC RESCUE PUMP

This is Scotland's first electric fire appliance which is built on a MAN crew cab chassis and an American chassis for the lockers. The locker chassis is slightly wider than the crew cab.

This appliance is 8.3 metres long 3.4 m high 2.6m wide and weighing 18 tonnes it has a range of approx. 200 miles. The water tank holds 2,000 litres.

It is fitted with a range extender in the form of a 60L 2.3 eco boost petrol engine which charges the batteries if they fall below 30% when driving or 60% when pumping. The scene lighting on the cab comes on when one of the doors are opened.

Various locations were considered but the only one with the electrical infrastructure  to supply a normal charger and rapid charger in the bay plus a charger in the yard which are required was Clydesmill.
